We believe in preparing each work as an ensemble to share a musical experience with our audience. Our concert schedule does not necessarily allow a lot of time between concerts, therefore, we ask that all musicians come to rehearsals prepared so that rehearsals can be productive. Rehearsals are normally held at one of several sites in the Dallas area on Thursday nights from 7:35pm until 9:35pm.
We perform formally in concert and, on a limited basis, informally outdoors at area civic events. Formal performance seasons consist of four to five indoor concerts per year. Our performance season runs generally from Fall through Spring, with a break from early July to early September. Our official concert attire is Conservative Concert Black: black tux for gentlemen and conservatively tasteful black dress for ladies. Informal event attire is our Black Polo shirt with band logo and Khaki pants.
The week before a Meyerson Center concert involves a series of rehearsals, usually Thursday and Friday, from 7 to 10 PM and a three-hour Saturday afternoon dress rehearsal, in preparation for the Sunday evening concert. Attendance at all three rehearsals is mandatory. There is also a Sunday afternoon sectional rehearsal, usually a week or two before the concert. Meyerson concert dates are announced to the ensemble at least nine months ahead to allow for proper scheduling on the part of the musicians.
We allow some time at the beginning of each preparation period for reading before beginning focused rehearsals. This period of reading largely determines the next concert's program. Therefore, we require regular attendance for the entire preparation period to include everyone's preferences and cover all parts for a true hearing of all the music. |
Membership is open to
any adult musician or
mature High School student
that enjoys the challenge of
preparing and performing
serious concert literature.
New members are required
to audition for the Music

make a personal
commitment to regularly
attend rehearsals, prepare

Our goal is continuous
improvement, individually
and as an organization.
There is also a nominal
membership fee collected
once in the Fall and once in
the Spring. |
